2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: Prices, Engines and Towing Limits
Truck buying
Updated October 16, 2026
Chevrolet’s 2027 Silverado 1500 announcement now includes prices and engine ratings, so the comparison has moved beyond a first look. The release was originally dated June 16, 2026 and updated October 2. Its most useful lesson is that the strongest engine, highest towing rating and largest payload figure describe different configurations.
Published prices include destination
Chevrolet’s updated release lists these U.S. starting MSRPs with the $2,795 destination freight charge already included. Do not add it a second time. Taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment remain separate; the dealer sets the final price.
| Trim | Starting MSRP with destination |
|---|---|
| Work Truck | $41,395 |
| Custom | $46,395 |
| Silverado | $50,695 |
| Custom Trail Boss | $57,195 |
| Trail Boss | $63,995 |
| High Country | $74,495 |
| ZR2 | $79,995 |
“Silverado” is also a trim name in this lineup, replacing LT in Chevrolet’s description. When comparing a quote, identify the trim and selected cab, bed, drivetrain and equipment rather than treating the model name as a complete specification.
Four engines, different capability limits
The current model page identifies a standard 10-speed automatic across the four-engine lineup. Chevrolet publishes the following output figures; its release describes the horsepower and torque ratings as GM estimates. They are manufacturer specifications, not results from our own test.
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| Enhanced 2.7L TurboMax | 350 hp | 455 lb-ft |
| 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel | 305 hp | 495 lb-ft |
| 5.7L V8 | 402 hp | 428 lb-ft |
| 6.6L V8 | 481 hp | 501 lb-ft |
The 13,700-pound maximum trailer rating requires a Double Cab Standard Bed 2WD with the 5.7L V8 and available Max Trailering Package. The 6.6L V8’s listed maximum is 9,700 pounds, requiring a Crew Cab Short Bed or Standard Bed 4WD. More horsepower therefore does not automatically select the truck with the highest published trailer rating.
Likewise, the 2,340-pound maximum payload belongs to a Regular Cab Standard Bed 2WD with TurboMax. It is not the carrying allowance of every Silverado. Passengers, cargo and added equipment must be reconciled with the specific truck’s limits; the headline maxima cannot simply be combined into one imagined truck.

The payload and towing worksheet explains how the vehicle labels, matching manufacturer guide and planned load fit together. Use the documentation for the exact Silverado year and configuration; the worksheet’s examples are not Silverado ratings.
Screen size is only part of the cabin change
Chevrolet lists a 16.3-inch center screen and 12.2-inch instrument display as standard, with an 11.5-inch passenger display on High Country and ZR2. These are diagonal measurements. The new interface includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; compatible devices and applicable data requirements still matter.
Before choosing a trim, separate the equipment you will use from the appearance package you prefer. Check which camera, seating and assistance features are standard or optional on the actual build. A larger display does not establish the presence of every available feature.
Chevrolet’s current material still describes late-2026 availability. That is a published product timetable, not evidence that a particular configuration is in stock. For a meaningful comparison, keep the itemized price, exact build and applicable capability documentation together.
