Jeep Recall 21D: Park Outside Until Repair

Recall Advisory

Updated October 16, 2026

Owners of Jeeps included in recall 21D should park outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until the repair is completed. The fire risk can remain when the ignition is off. The campaign covers certain 2021–2025 Wrangler, Wrangler 4xe and Gladiator vehicles; inclusion depends on the VIN.

The parking instruction applies while waiting for repair

NHTSA’s June 9, 2026 consumer alert connects the fire risk to an electrical connection in the electric hydraulic power-steering pump wiring. Combustible material can overheat. This is a steering-system electrical campaign, including both conventional Wranglers and Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrids.

The outside-parking instruction is tied to completion of the repair. Switching the vehicle off or having an appointment on the calendar does not satisfy that condition. Follow the latest instructions for the affected VIN rather than substituting a general maintenance visit.

Original explanation of Jeep recall 21D: affected vehicles should remain parked outside away from buildings and other vehicles until recall repair; ignition off and an appointment are not repair.
Original explanation of the parking instruction in the 21D campaign record and NHTSA’s June 9 alert. For affected vehicles, the instruction continues until recall repair; this is not a vehicle photograph or parking-distance diagram. Open full-size image.

Which vehicles and which campaign?

U.S. campaign 26V363 / FCA 21D
Listed vehicle Model years
Jeep Wrangler, including Wrangler 4xe 2021–2025
Jeep Gladiator 2021–2025

The federal campaign record lists 1,076,999 potentially affected vehicles. Its repeated model-year entries describe one campaign population, not separate totals to add together. That figure is not a count of fires or confirmed failed connections.

The July date remains a forecast in the record

Checked October 16, 2026, the record still says owner letters were expected to be mailed July 9. That past target is not confirmation of actual mailing, an available appointment or completed work. FCA’s June 4 filing described phased owner notification extending into August.

The listed remedy is inspection and replacement of the wiring and electric hydraulic power-steering pump as necessary, free of charge. It does not promise replacement of every pump. Ask FCA about the current action for the VIN using campaign 21D; the record lists 1-800-853-1403.

NHTSA’s VIN lookup distinguishes an unrepaired recall from general model information. Keep the campaign-specific repair order when work is complete. Our detailed 21D electrical-connection explainer covers the defect and vehicle-population breakdown.
