2027 Lexus NX Adds 45-Mile PHEV Range Estimate

Lexus has filled in key U.S. specifications for the 2027 NX, including a manufacturer-estimated 45 miles of all-electric range for every NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid grade and standard DC fast-charging capability. The compact luxury SUV will also be offered as the NX 350h conventional hybrid, giving shoppers a choice between plugging in and driving a hybrid that needs no external charging. The October 20 details build on the model Lexus introduced in September.
The plug-in combines estimated electric-only driving with charging options; the regular hybrid may suit drivers who prefer not to plan charging. Pricing and official EPA figures will be needed for a full cost comparison, but the new details clarify the equipment and performance targets.
Two electrified powertrains, four grades
The 2027 NX lineup has two powertrains: the NX 350h hybrid electric vehicle and NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. Lexus lists Premium, Premium+, F SPORT and Luxury grades for each. Premium and Premium+ NX 350h models are planned with front- or all-wheel drive; F SPORT and Luxury versions are all-wheel drive. Every NX 450h+ grade is all-wheel drive.
A 14-inch center touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver information display are standard across the lineup. Those displays are shared equipment rather than a plug-in-only feature, so shoppers comparing powertrains do not have to move to the NX 450h+ to get the larger screen setup. The October 20 U.S. release adds the range, charging and grade details. The initial September announcement described the plug-in’s range as more than 40 miles; Lexus now gives a 45-mile manufacturer estimate.
How to read the 45-mile estimate
Lexus estimates 45 miles of all-electric range for every 2027 NX 450h+ grade. Combined fuel-economy estimates are 37 mpg for the standard plug-in and 36 mpg for the F SPORT plug-in. These are manufacturer estimates; final EPA ratings have not been announced.
Lexus compares the new range estimate with the 2026 NX plug-in hybrid’s EPA-estimated 37-mile electric range. That offers context, but the figures use different rating bases: one is a manufacturer estimate and the other is an EPA estimate. A direct percentage comparison would mix those bases. The 2026 NX PHEV page identifies the previous model, while Lexus’s new release supplies the comparison. The 2027 EPA label will provide a more direct basis for shoppers.
Standard DC charging, with estimates tied to conditions
Every NX 450h+ includes DC fast-charging capability, and Lexus describes the port as NACS style. Under ideal conditions, Lexus estimates a 240-volt AC charger can take the battery from 10 to 100 percent in as little as 2.5 hours. At a 50-kilowatt DC station, the estimated 10-to-80-percent time is 35 minutes. Actual charging time varies with the station, vehicle and battery conditions.
NACS identifies the connector style; it does not mean every station or network will be available to an NX owner. Buyers should check compatible stations along their regular routes. The 35-minute estimate is specifically tied to a 50-kilowatt station, not a universal charging promise.
The NX 350h does not require charging. Lexus estimates 40 mpg combined for front-wheel drive and 38 mpg for all-wheel drive and F SPORT models. Those are also manufacturer estimates. A plug-in can use grid power when charged; the conventional hybrid can be refueled normally without charging stops. Which arrangement fits better depends on charging access and how often the plug-in would be charged. Drivers with home or workplace charging can evaluate the plug-in differently from those who rely on public stations.
What buyers still need to know
Lexus has not announced 2027 NX pricing or final EPA ratings, and its October 20 U.S. release gives no U.S.-specific on-sale date. Those details will help shoppers compare the NX 450h+ with the NX 350h across grades and assess the electric range against daily driving. For now, the central distinction is clear: the plug-in pairs a 45-mile manufacturer estimate with standard DC fast charging, while the regular hybrid keeps a no-plug routine.
