2027 Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition: Price and Features

Nissan has added a 40th-anniversary Special Edition to the 2027 Pathfinder lineup, with a two-tone burgundy interior, black 20-inch wheels and a bundle of family-oriented equipment. The edition arrives in November with a starting MSRP of $47,390 for front-wheel drive and $49,390 for the all-wheel-drive version, according to Nissan’s Oct. 19 announcement. The premium over a similarly driven SL is $4,600 before destination and other charges, so the decision is about whether the added equipment and appearance justify the step up.
The Special Edition sits above the SL and below the Platinum in Nissan’s 2027 price list. The FWD SL starts at $42,790 and the AWD SL at $44,790; Platinum starts at $49,890 FWD and $51,890 AWD. Nissan lists destination and handling at $1,575, which brings the Special Edition’s listed starting totals to $48,965 FWD and $50,965 AWD before tax, title, license, options or dealer-installed accessories. These are manufacturer suggested prices; actual dealer pricing can differ.
What comes with the anniversary trim
The distinctive feature is the seating: black and burgundy TailorFit material that references the burgundy cloth used in the original 1987 Pathfinder. Nissan also lists red exterior details, black 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, rear-door sunshades and a Bose audio system with 12 speakers. A tow-hitch receiver is included on the Special Edition. The captain’s-chair layout makes it a seven-passenger configuration rather than the eight-passenger bench-seat arrangement available on some Pathfinder trims.
Nissan’s 2027 Special Edition announcement lists the equipment and pricing, while the company’s full 2027 Pathfinder press kit provides the trim-by-trim price table and equipment notes. Buyers can use those documents to compare the Special Edition with the SL: the SL is the nearest lower-priced AWD version, while Platinum costs $2,500 more than the Special Edition at either drivetrain level and adds its own premium equipment.
The Special Edition’s price buys a more complete package than a simple appearance badge. Still, not every item will matter to every household. Captain’s chairs make a center aisle to the third row, but they remove the center seating position in row two. The panoramic roof and large wheels are highly visible options; shoppers who prefer a bench seat or want an off-road-oriented Pathfinder should compare other trims before deciding that the Special Edition is the best fit.
Powertrain and capability remain familiar
Nissan lists the 2027 Pathfinder with a 3.5-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic transmission. The release says standard towing capacity is 3,500 pounds and that capacity can reach 6,000 pounds depending on configuration; it specifically says the Special Edition’s hitch receiver raises its rating to 6,000 pounds. Towing is not interchangeable across trims or equipment, so owners should confirm the specific vehicle’s door label, hitch setup and owner-manual limits before towing.
The 2027 press kit lists EPA estimates of 20 mpg city, 27 highway and 23 combined for the Special Edition in 2WD, and 21/27/23 mpg for the 4WD configuration. It lists 23 mpg combined for the front-wheel-drive SV and SL, while the Rock Creek is rated at 21 combined. These are estimates for comparison, not predicted real-world results; load, weather, driving style and equipment can change fuel use.
The official Nissan USA Special Edition page confirms the expected November 2026 arrival and the burgundy seating, black wheels, captain’s chairs, moonroof and Bose system. Nissan also notes that more details may be added as the 2027 model approaches dealerships, so shoppers should check the current build sheet and window sticker for the exact configuration.
For a family choosing a three-row SUV, the Special Edition is easiest to understand as a comfort-and-style package with a clear price gap over the SL and a lower price than Platinum. Compare the seating layout first, then decide whether the extra equipment is worth roughly $4,600 over the comparable SL before destination and local charges. The list price does not predict a transaction price, and this comparison does not include financing, insurance or long-term ownership costs.
