2027 Toyota Sequoia Trailhunter: Confirmed Equipment
2027 SUV preview
Toyota’s 2027 Sequoia Trailhunter preview centers on upgraded suspension, a specified tire-and-wheel combination and additional underbody protection. For buyers, the useful comparison is the equipment itself: what the package adds, which technology Toyota is promoting across the updated Sequoia, and what still needs confirming on a complete vehicle configuration.
Updated October 16, 2026
As of this October 16, 2026 review, Toyota’s future-lineup page still lists the 2027 Sequoia as coming in fall 2026. That is a planned launch window, rather than confirmation of a particular vehicle’s arrival or price.

The Trailhunter equipment Toyota identifies
Toyota’s U.S. 2027 Sequoia preview names the following package hardware. It gives a concrete starting point for comparing the eventual configuration with another Sequoia.
| Item | Toyota’s description |
|---|---|
| Suspension | Old Man Emu upgraded suspension |
| Tires | Michelin LTX Trail, 265/70R18 |
| Wheels | Bronze-finished wheels |
| Recovery equipment | Front recovery hooks |
| Underbody | Enhanced underbody protection |
The wheel finish is a styling detail. Suspension, tires and protection are separate equipment decisions, so compare their written specifications rather than treating the Trailhunter name as a complete technical description. The preview does not establish a measured ride-quality advantage or a particular obstacle the SUV can clear.
Clarification: An earlier version listed a locking rear differential. The Toyota preview material verified for this update does not establish that feature.
Keep the tire size attached to the tire name
Michelin describes LTX Trail as a tire for paved roads and trails. Its published comparison-test footnotes use 265/65R17 tires on other Toyota models. Those results should not be treated as a test of the Sequoia’s planned 265/70R18 fitment.
When comparing the cost of ownership, ask for a replacement-tire quote for the actual specification fitted to the vehicle. A tire-line name alone leaves out the size and ratings that matter when ordering a replacement. This preview is not a road test, and it does not establish how the package changes highway noise, ride comfort or fuel consumption.
The technology update is a separate comparison
Toyota also highlights Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, a built-in Drive Recorder Dashcam and its latest-generation Audio Multimedia system for the 2027 Sequoia. Those features deserve their own review even if the Trailhunter hardware is not a priority.
Toyota’s general TSS 4.0 guide describes pre-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking under specified conditions, and adaptive cruise control intended for highway use. It also cautions that the selected model may not have every feature shown and directs owners to the applicable manual. Use the final Sequoia equipment list and instructions to establish what a particular version includes; a system-generation number does not answer every feature question.
What to establish before choosing a configuration
For family travel, compare the final seating layout and luggage space with the seats you intend to occupy. For towing, obtain the rating and loading information for the actual configuration. The package name does not supply those numbers.
A useful purchase comparison also needs the vehicle’s total configured price, including destination and selected equipment. Keep that separate from an outgoing model year’s advertised price. The preview identifies equipment worth investigating; the final configuration determines whether it fits your passengers, cargo and intended routes.
