Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX Camera Recall: Repair Status

Recall update

The Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX camera recall addresses moisture entering the rearview-camera housing, which can leave the image blurry, distorted or blank. Campaign 26V306000 covers certain 2024–2025 Prologue and 2024 ZDX SUVs. The current federal record reports interim letters mailed July 7, 2026, with the replacement remedy still anticipated in late 2026.

Original status diagram: Prologue and ZDX interim letters mailed July 7, 2026; camera-replacement remedy anticipated in late 2026
Original diagram based on the NHTSA / American Honda campaign 26V306 summary, reviewed October 16, 2026. July 7 is the recorded interim mailing date; late 2026 is anticipated remedy timing, not a confirmed repair date for an individual VIN.

The distinction between a safety notice and a repair-availability notice matters here. An interim letter identifies the risk; it does not establish that the improved replacement camera is ready for every affected vehicle.

Why the camera image can deteriorate

Honda’s manufacturer explanation identifies a bonding problem in the camera housing. Adhesive can separate over time, allowing moisture into the assembly. Corrosion of its internal electrical components can then interfere with the image.

The supplier’s preparation of the bonding surface is central to the reported cause. Honda says plasma treatment may have deformed or chemically altered portions of that surface, reducing the adhesive’s strength. The replacement camera uses an improved bonding process. This is a physical camera-assembly remedy, rather than an instruction to reset a display or pair a phone again.

The safety consequence is reduced information about the area behind the vehicle while reversing. A blurry picture can be affected even though the screen is illuminated; the campaign is not limited to a completely black display.

The model years and population

Honda’s announcement breaks the 59,887 potentially involved U.S. vehicles into three groups:

Vehicle Model year Potentially involved
Honda Prologue 2024 33,464
Honda Prologue 2025 10,735
Acura ZDX 2024 15,688

These are recall-population counts, not counts of vehicles with a currently failed camera. The manufacturer’s filing says manufacturing records determined the scope. A normal image during one parking maneuver does not establish that a VIN is outside the campaign or that the housing will remain sealed.

What the current notice says about replacement

The current NHTSA summary, reviewed October 16, specifies free dealer replacement of the rearview camera. It says additional letters will be sent when the remedy is available, anticipated in late 2026. That remains a projected period in the record, rather than a confirmed appointment or parts allocation for an individual SUV.

The same summary records July 7 as the actual interim mailing date. Honda’s original announcement projected July 6, so owners comparing an older article with their letter may see a one-day difference. Neither date should now be described as an upcoming notification.

Have the dealer identify campaign DO5 or RO6 against the VIN and confirm the current replacement-camera arrangements. If the vehicle has already had display or camera work, give the dealer that repair order and ask whether it completed this particular campaign. A service visit for a similar screen symptom does not, by itself, document the improved camera installation.

Information to have ready when contacting Honda or Acura

Keep the VIN and interim letter together. If an image problem has occurred during ordinary use, describe whether the picture was blurred, distorted or absent and whether it returned later. That helps explain the concern without treating a symptom description as proof of eligibility or performing a special backing test.

Honda’s campaign support number is 1-888-234-2138. Owners can also use NHTSA’s VIN recall lookup to identify unrepaired actions. The lookup does not display a complete history of repairs already completed, so retain the final repair order showing the campaign and camera replacement. Follow the manufacturer’s current instructions for the vehicle while arranging the remedy.
