Recall Update

Updated October 16, 2026

Ford recall 26S30 covers certain 2024–2026 Bronco and Ranger vehicles whose front-seat height-adjustment pivot bolts may loosen or come out. The concern is the seat’s ability to restrain an occupant in a crash. The current federal record says owner letters were mailed May 22, 2026, replacing the earlier notification forecast.

Which Bronco and Ranger vehicles are included?

Ford’s April 30 recall filing identifies 179,698 potentially involved U.S. vehicles. The population comes from supplier and production records; it is not a count of failed seats.

Potential population in NHTSA campaign 26V268 / Ford 26S30
Vehicle Model years Potentially involved
Ford Bronco 2024–2026 117,443
Ford Ranger 2024–2026 62,255

The two groups total 179,698. The campaign’s six model-year entries repeat that same total, so adding the entries would overstate the recall. Neither a Bronco badge nor a matching model year establishes inclusion. Ford says the vehicles were not produced in VIN order.

Why a seat-adjustment bolt matters

The filing describes a supplier torque-check process that disturbed the curing of an adhesive patch on the threaded fastener. The compromised patch can allow a pivot bolt to loosen over time and eventually dislodge. That is a specific manufacturing concern, rather than evidence that any seat noise has the same cause.

Ford lists squeaks, looseness and rattles as possible observations. Report an already-observed change in seat movement or noise when contacting Ford; do not deliberately rock, load or dismantle the seat to try to prove the defect. A symptom description helps explain the concern, while the VIN determines campaign applicability.

Inspection comes before conditional replacement

The current NHTSA record, checked October 16, specifies inspection and replacement of pivot links and bolts as necessary, free of charge. The filing says the dealer removes both front seats to inspect the height-adjust linkage pivot bolts under the technical instructions. A bolt that fails inspection leads to replacement of the affected link and bolts.

This is not a promise that every vehicle receives a new seat assembly. Have the repair order identify the VIN, campaign 26S30 and the inspection or replacement performed. A general maintenance receipt does not show that this campaign was completed.

Separate the letter date from today’s VIN status

The original filing forecast interim letters for May 11–15 and remedy letters for July 13–17. The current record instead reports letters mailed May 22. It does not identify those letters as interim or final, or establish a particular owner’s receipt or local repair availability.

Use NHTSA’s VIN search for unrepaired safety recalls, and ask Ford for the latest instructions under 26S30. Ford’s listed customer-service number is 1-866-436-7332. A year/make/model search gives general campaign information; it does not replace the vehicle-specific result.
