Jeep Gladiator 4xe: What the 2024 Announcement Meant

Jeep’s 2026 U.S. Gladiator FAQ describes a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 truck. The Gladiator 4xe story began with a different kind of evidence: a future product plan posted in May 2024. This corrected archive separates that announcement from the vehicle information a shopper should use now.

What Jeep actually said in May 2024

On May 2, 2024, then-Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa posted about adding Tuscadero paint to the Gladiator. In the same LinkedIn post, he said a Gladiator 4xe option was planned for the following year, with colors still to be announced. In that dated statement, “next year” meant 2025.

The post did not supply an engine specification, battery capacity, electric range, charging rate, price or towing rating for the proposed plug-in pickup. It named the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe as existing related products; their specifications were not a published Gladiator specification.

Jeep’s separate May 2 Tuscadero release concerned the 2024 Gladiator and described its standard 3.6-liter V6. A new paint choice and a future powertrain plan were two separate announcements. A photograph of a Tuscadero Gladiator would not, by itself, show a Gladiator 4xe.

The plan changed

On September 22, 2025, TechCrunch published Stellantis’s statement that the electrified Gladiator had been dropped from its plans.

An old announcement is not a substitute for a model-year specification sheet. Check the vehicle information that applies to the truck being considered.

What to use when comparing a Gladiator now

In the current 2026 FAQ, Jeep identifies the Gladiator’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and publishes 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This is the manufacturer’s stated U.S. model information, not a test of a particular used truck or proof of its equipment and condition.

Two dated source panels contrast the May 2024 future Gladiator 4xe plan with Jeep’s 2026 U.S. 3.6-liter V6 model information.
Original comparison of Filosa’s May 2, 2024 post with Jeep’s 2026 U.S. FAQ, checked October 16, 2026. The first describes a future 4xe plan; the second describes the gasoline model. Open full-size image.

For an advertised vehicle, match the model year and powertrain to its actual vehicle documentation. Keep a gasoline Gladiator separate from a Wrangler 4xe or Grand Cherokee 4xe in a comparison. A shared Jeep name or a reference to an old announcement does not make their batteries, charging equipment or capabilities interchangeable.

For the pickup proposed in 2024, the missing specifications remain missing from that announcement. There is no sound basis here for assigning it a Wrangler’s electric range, promising lower running costs or describing plug-in inventory. The useful record is the dated plan, its later change and the exact product being considered.
