2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse EV Adds Two Charging Ports
The 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV will use two native charging ports: a NACS connection for DC fast charging and a J1772 connection for Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging. The Mitsubishi Motors North America announcement says the electric crossover is scheduled to launch across North America in fall 2026. The uncommon layout is useful because it separates fast public charging from routine home and workplace charging.
Mitsubishi places the NACS port on the passenger side and the J1772 port on the driver side. According to a Kelley Blue Book report, that gives drivers a native connection for compatible Tesla Superchargers while retaining the familiar AC connector used by many existing home and public Level 2 stations. Actual network access, payment requirements and charger compatibility should still be checked before a trip.
The manufacturer says every version will include a liquid-cooled 75-kWh lithium-ion battery and can accept up to 150 kW on a compatible Level 3 charger. Mitsubishi estimates a 10-to-80-percent session at approximately 35 minutes. Charging time can vary with battery temperature, starting charge, ambient conditions, station output and accessory use, so that estimate is not a promise for every stop.
KBB cites an estimated 303 miles of range, but shoppers should wait for the final EPA rating before making a purchase comparison. Route, speed, weather, climate-control use and tire condition all affect real-world results. The global launch announcement says the Eclipse Sportback is supplied by Nissan and based on the next-generation Leaf. Mitsubishi gives it brand-specific bumpers, grille, lighting, rear gate, pillars and wheels. Shared underpinnings can expand scale, while shoppers still need to compare warranty, equipment, tuning and service support rather than assuming the two models are identical.
What EV Shoppers Should Check

Drivers who can charge overnight may use the J1772 port most often, while the NACS port becomes more important on longer travel days.

Public charging should supplement a realistic routine rather than replace planning.
When pricing arrives, compare the complete amount paid, insurance and charging costs. The financing resources can help organize rate, term and down-payment questions. Any available incentives should be verified for the exact purchase date, buyer and vehicle because program rules can change.
Shoppers who do not need a new vehicle immediately can compare current used electric and gasoline vehicles. A used EV evaluation should include battery warranty, charging-cable equipment, software status, tire wear and a VIN recall check. A familiar home-charging setup may be more valuable than the largest advertised fast-charging number.
Owners planning to switch powertrains can request a trade-in estimate before calculating the new budget.
